Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I have my bike serviced?

Having your bike serviced:

  • Keeps your bike reliable and safe
  • Minimises future repair costs
  • Your bike will last longer

You should have your bike serviced regularly if you ride regularly.

You should have your bike serviced if your bike hasn’t been ridden for months

I provide three service packages to suit all types of cyclists, see all Service Packages here.

If you are not sure which service package is right for your bike book a bike health check and I will check if your bike is safe and road worthy, and advise if your bike needs servicing, which service would be best suited and why. Get in touch to book a bike health check.

What do your bike services include and how much are they?

It depends on which level of service you choose. Here is a basic breakdown of the levels that I offer:

S1: Basic Check Service £10 (Inspection and Pre-Service Assessment

S2: Preventative Maintenance Service: £25 (Safety Check and basic tune up)

S3: Intermediate / Performance Service: £45 (keeps things running smoothly)

S4: Main Service: (annual major service)

The full details of each level of service can be found here.

What servicing, repair and fitting options do you offer and how much do you charge?

Please check my pages for servicing, repair and fitting options, which provide a pricing menu and basic description of each service. Please get in touch with any specific or bespoke requests.

How long do bike services, repairs and fittings take?

Some simple repairs are quick and can sometimes be carried out on the spot (such as an innertube replacement) whilst other repairs can require longer period and may require parts to be ordered. I will be able to provide an estimate timescale when you drop your bike off. Please get in touch with any specific requests.

Is repair work covered by any Guarantee?

In the unlikely event that the service undertaken does not meet your satisfaction please get in touch. Most parts and components will be guaranteed for 1 year unless the manufacturer states otherwise, and generally provided that:

  • The bike has been properly cared for, regularly serviced, and maintained.
  • The bike has not been dramatically modified or altered in any way.
  • The bike has not been damaged by misuse.
  • Any failure caused by normal wear and tear or a lack of servicing and maintenance is excluded.

Since I buy all parts directly, I can handle all customer warrantee claims however I cannot guarantee that any part will be covered.

Can you carry out work on my Electric Bike?

Yes, however I am unable to complete electrical work, as this is due to access to spare parts and often voiding the manufactures warranty. I can still complete mechanical work on electric bikes.

When should I book a free bike check?

  • When you want peace of mind that your bike is safe & road worthy.
  • When you need a repair or your bike serviced but you’re unsure exactly what you need

How long will it take to have my bike repaired or serviced?

Simple repairs like a puncture or having a new chain fitted take up to 30 mins can usually be undertaken on the same day

Bigger jobs and services can take longer. I will try to prioritise urgent repairs wherever possible. I recommend you book in advance on-line as early as possible.

As part of any repair or service I check the bike to assess if any additional repairs are required. If I recommend additional work, I will provide you with a no obligation cost estimate and ask if you want to proceed or not. I will also confirm if the extra work can be completed straight away or if the bike needs to be booked back e.g. sometimes I will need to order required parts.

Do I need to leave my bike with you?

Yes, although I will aim to complete smaller repairs on the same day wherever possible.

Sometimes I may ask you to leave your bike with me so that I have time to carry out the work and / or order in any required parts.

I check all bikes over before starting a job and will confirm the next step in the process with you after this check.

How will you keep me up to date with how my repair or service is going?

If your bike is left with me for a repair or service I’ll book you into my system and provide a date on which your bike will be ready to collect. I will notify you of any major updates and confirm when your bike is ready to collect.
